Following the wonderful success of our Tea Ceremonies hosted in Johannesburg, we are so happy and excited to be sharing this experience with our Cape Town spirit family.
This ceremony will be guided and hosted by Kye Wilde, and myself, Trisha. In 2012 Kye answered the call from spirit and began guiding people on medicine journeys. In 2015 we began holding space together in union, bringing through a beautiful dance and balance of the sacred masculine and feminine. We are all blessed to be living in a time where we have access to many different plant medicines, however, we feel we are not limited to one particular plant or even plant medicine in general, for it is ceremony that is our calling. It is the rituals, settings, music and space created that allows for one to enter into a “medicine space” of deep self-reflection, transformation and peace. This allows you to leave the ceremony feeling grounded, refreshed, and closer to nature. Our intention for these tea ceremonies is to share with others the capabilities of entering into a medicine space without the consumption of any plants.
Each element of the ceremony, the environment and setting, the music, and all that encompasses the teas, serve as your guides toward relaxation, stress relief and a calm and grounded spirit.
The tea ceremony is essentially a ritualistic serving of tea with influences deriving from zen Buddhism. The ceremony is guided by various teas- their smells, tastes, and aesthetics, as well as bamboo flutes, singing bowls and chanting.
When one is able to bring ones self, mind body and spirit, back to the present moment, we are able to experience the true bliss only achievable when dwelling in the present moment. Meditating for longer stretches of time can become difficult when living in a city that by its nature and design serves to keep your anxieties high and your mind busy.
We live most of our lives in three states of consciousness- waking, dreaming and sleeping. The higher state of consciousness is somewhere in between the waking, sleeping and dreaming states, in Eastern Cultures this state is referred to as Shiva. This state gives the deepest possible peace, contentment and freedom that one can experience. This state of consciousness is reachable through deep meditation.
You must be completely awake in the present to enjoy tea. Only in the awareness of the present, can your hands feel the pleasant warmth of the cup. Only in the present, can you savour the aroma, taste the sweetness. Appreciate the delicacy. If you are ruminating about the past, or worrying about the future, you will completely miss the experience of enjoying the cup of tea, you will look down at the cup and the tea will be gone.
